From Lost & Found to Life-Saving: Seminole Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos and 911 Cell Phone Bank Team Up to Make a Difference

PRESS RELEASE

SEMINOLE, FL – Picture this: a guest hits the jackpot at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa. Cheers erupt. Photos are snapped. But in the whirlwind of excitement, their phone is left behind. A moment of celebration becomes a moment of vulnerability—unless someone steps in.

Thanks to a unique partnership with the 911 Cell Phone Bank, what could have been a security risk or environmental hazard instead becomes a beacon of hope for someone in need.

Throughout June, the 911 Cell Phone Bank proudly highlights Seminole Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos as its Featured Supporter, honoring their long-standing commitment to community safety and social responsibility. Their Tampa location, along with other participating Hard Rock properties, has implemented a thoughtful lost-and-found protocol: after a thorough waiting period, unclaimed electronic devices are donated to the 911 Cell Phone Bank—a nonprofit that transforms forgotten phones into lifelines for survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence.

But these devices don’t just change hands—they’re securely wiped, refurbished, and redistributed. This guarantees that sensitive data is not compromised, ensuring donor peace of mind and compliance with Florida Statute 705.185, which outlines structured procedures for managing unclaimed property.

It’s important to note: Seminole Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos were ahead of the curve. Long before state law made it mandatory, they were already leading the way—recycling unclaimed electronics through a responsible, secure, and charitable channel. That’s leadership in action.

Since its founding more than 20 years ago, the 911 Cell Phone Bank has provided free phones and service to over 250,000 victims and survivors across the United States. With more than 6,650 devices donated by Hard Rock properties to date, this partnership is helping to rewrite the story for thousands of individuals.

“The partnership between Seminole Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos and the 911 Cell Phone Bank is invaluable,” said James Mosieur, Founder and Director of 911 CPB. “It’s about more than data security or e-waste prevention—it’s about giving survivors the tools they need to reach safety, start over, and stay connected.”

In a world where technology can sometimes isolate us, this program reminds us that it can also bring people back together—and back to hope. Seminole Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos continue to set a high standard for what it means to be both a world-class entertainment destination and a force for good.
